What Makes Something a Cyberdelic?

The term “cyberdelic” encompasses a broad spectrum of experiences that blend technology, art and altered states of consciousness.

But what exactly qualifies as a cyberdelic?

Here are the key criteria:

Technological Foundation: Utilizes digital, electronic, or cybernetic technology.

  1. Electronic Technology could be used for the hardware required to create immersive environments, such as sensors and actuators.
  2. Digital Technology would be crucial for processing and generating the digital environments, visuals, and sounds that alter perceptions.
  3. Cybernetic Technology could be used to make these experiences responsive to the user’s actions or physiological states, adapting the experience based on real-time feedback to enhance the immersive and transformative potential.
  4. Here is a list of all the technologies that a cyberdelic experience could be expressed:

Facilitates an Altered State: The experience must induce a state that is significantly different from normal waking consciousness. It must Induce significant alterations in sensory, cognitive, or emotional processes, akin to those experienced under the influence of psychedelics.

Transformative Potential: Aims to provide transformative insights, therapeutic value, or enhanced creativity, reflecting the objectives often sought in psychedelic experiences.

Psychedelic Cultural Connection: Reflects psychedelic culture through aesthetics, themes, or philosophies.

Creators’ Purpose or Intent: Aimed at enhancing well-being, expanding consciousness, or providing profound insights.

Artistic Expression: Uses art to craft immersive worlds, tell stories, or convey messages, enhancing the sensory experience.

Leveraging artistic design to not only enhance the aesthetics of the experience but as a means to catalyze altered states of consciousness.

All experiences must meet at least two points of the criteria to be considered cyberdelic and need to fit within this 6 main categories

Cyberdelic Nexus Database

We’re currently working on the first edition of the Cyberdelic Nexus Database!!

This is a growing repository where you can find cyberdelic experiences, tools, and research.

Our intention with this database is to create a interactive database in our upcoming website where the community can access a wealth of information and share their own contributions.

If you have a unique cyberdelic experience, project, or research that you’d like to include in this database, please submit it using this link: Cyberdelic Nexus Database Submission Form

Together, we can build a rich resource that fuels innovation and collaboration in the field.

Summer Plans and User Testing Protocol

As we gear up for the summer, we have exciting plans to showcase and test cyberdelic experiences at some of the most vibrant festivals like: Masters of Puppets, Ozora, and Modem.

If you’re interested for us to user test your experience in these events please contact us.

We are developing a user testing protocol for each experience to obtain valuable data and feedback from users at each of the events.
